HEMLATA is unlocking the potential for young women to achieve financial independence, redefine themselves as role models, transform communities and enable social change.
HEMLATA’s vision is to shape the future for young women in underserved populations to lead lives of dignity and self-worth.
HEMLATA’s mission is committed to empowering financial independence in young women, inspiring female role models, transforming communities and enabling social change.
Taking a focussed and qualitative approach, a holistic 5 pillar program model was designed to support and empower young women in the age group of 18 to 23, specifically, post their last year of school.
Aimed to bring about systemic change within the given ecosystem, this innovative model encompasses the journey of a young woman or HEMLATA Fellow, from education to empowerment, beginning with quality tertiary education and skill based learning to enabling opportunities leading to financial independence, thus building dignity and self-worth.
The design of the HEMLATA’s ImpactforHER Scholarship directly targets the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2030, with a focus on SDG #4: Quality Education, and SDG #5: Gender Equality. The program design also indirectly works towards sustaining SDG#1, SDG#3, SDG#8, SDG#10, and SDG#17. In all, HEMLATA adheres to 7 of the 17 UN SDGs.
