Originating from India, Diwali, also known as Deepawali, is a joyous festival symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and the onset of new beginnings. It’s a time of vibrant festivities, cherished traditions, and the spreading of joy and prosperity.

Every two years, HEMLATA hosts a Diwali Gala with a noble cause at its heart - raising funds for the HEMLATA ImpactforHER Scholarship. This scholarship is dedicated to supporting young women aged 18-23 in pursuing their university education, providing them with essential resources such as lodging, laptops/tablets, and financial support for transportation and personal expenses. Moreover, scholars benefit from invaluable mentorship and skills development opportunities in collaboration with IMD Business School, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in their academic and professional journeys.

HEMLATA Scholars are shining examples of resilience and ambition, actively shaping their futures and making positive impacts in their communities. At HEMLATA’s Diwali Gala 2024, you’ll have the opportunity to hear their inspiring stories firsthand and witness the transformative power of education.

Dussehra Brunch 2023

As we look back on our Dussehra event, the memories flood back like rays of sunshine on a crisp autumn day—bright, warm, and full of joy.

It was time to bring the HEMLATA community together and celebrate the spirit of Dussehra, infusing every moment with happiness and positivity. The aroma of Indian food wafted through the air, tempting our taste buds with its rich flavours and spices. From savoury samosas to decadent sweets, every bite was a celebration of tradition and togetherness.

As we soaked in the festive atmosphere, surrounded by the love of our HEMLATA family, it felt like time stood still, and all that mattered was the here and now—the bonds we shared, the memories we created, and the joy that filled our hearts.

Step into the world of Diwali magic with us as we reminisce about the heartwarming moments from HEMLATA’s Diwali Gala 2022!

Picture this: surrounded by the warm glow of Diwali lights, we had the pleasure of introducing you to the incredible HEMLATA Scholars, each with a story of resilience and triumph. Among them, HEMLATA Scholar Santhoshi's journey touched our hearts deeply, reminding us of the power of education to transform lives.
But our evening was also a celebration of togetherness, laughter, and indulgence. From the first bite of our sumptuous fusion Indian cuisine to the last, every flavor was a delight to the senses, creating memories we'll treasure forever.

Generous contributions from Estee Lauder and PM care added an extra touch of luxury and thoughtfulness to the event, rounded off by attendees receiving carefully curated gifts such as Indian chai, spices, and recipes to enjoy at home. Each gift was a reminder of the love and support surrounding us.

As we looked around, the room was alive with the elegance of sarees and gowns, and the timeless charm of sharp suits. Laughter and conversation filled the air as old friends reconnected and new connections were forged, weaving a tapestry of warmth and friendship. And as the music filled the room, we couldn't resist the call of Bollywood dancing. With hearts full of joy, we danced together into the night, celebrating the spirit of Diwali in true Bollywood style.

International Woman's Day Event 2021

This striking documentary will move you, taking you across a landscape of emotions, as it challenges a society from within to break down patriarchal barriers and to protect and empower its girls.” – Smita Suchde Grütter

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, and it’s theme of #choosetochallenge, HEMLATA is honored to be teaming up with multi-award winning film director Vibha Bakshi, to screen one of the most talked about films of this year – SON RISE – a path breaking award winning documentary that is changing the narrative on gender inequality and gender justice globally.

SON RISE is filmed in the strongly patriarchal state of Haryana, bordering India’s capital, New Delhi. Illegal, yet rampant female foeticide has led to the eerie absence of girls in hundreds of villages, leading to a skewed sex-ratio, and provoking an unprecedented number of crimes against women. It is is from these darkest corners, that the filmmaker finds hope amongst ordinary people doing the ‘extraordinary’ in breaking the shackles of patriarchy and challenging the traditions of male dominance. Unveiled by United Nations Under-Secretary General Madame Phumzile, the film will be showcased as part of the United Nations global #HeForShe movement across 71 countries.
