HEMLATA’s mission is committed to empowering financial independence in young women, inspiring female role models, transforming communities and enabling social change.

HEMLATA’s team is present across India and Switzerland and counts on a combined professional experience of 200+ years. With in-depth knowledge of India’s socio-economic context and the challenges faced by HEMLATA Fellows, our pro-bono team and pro-bono support network is committed to delivering the vision and mission of HEMLATA with consistency and care.

The core leadership team is led by Smita, Founder & Lead and President of the Board, who oversees strategy, partnerships, fundraising, mentorship, and the Life Skills pillar. Two key team members in India drive programme delivery alongside her: Monita, who leads the Education pillar and interdisciplinary learning, and Gayatri, who leads the Career Skills pillar and employability support. Together, the three of us run the programme day-to-day and ensure delivery across the full Scholar journey.

HEMLATA is supported by an engaged Board including Doris and Isabelle, and our brand ambassador Sandra-Stella, who supports awareness and outreach.

Our Team is completed with Jaromir, who manages the design and website, and Nelson, who manages our IT, CRM and systems. For events and on-the-ground activities, we draw on a trusted extended support team that incudes Luana, Sabine and Monique.

This structure allows HEMLATA to remain lean, high-touch, and accountable while delivering 80+ touchpoints per Scholar per year.
