Empowering financial independence,
inspiring female role models, transfoming communities.

HEMLATA is unlocking the potential for young women to achieve financial independence, redefine themselves as role models, transform communities and enable social change.

Sustainability

HEMLATA’s impact is designed to convert opportunity into outcomes for first-generation young women in underserved communities in India — moving from Intervention to Education to Empowerment, with 80+ touchpoints per Scholar per year to ensure continuity and measurable progress.

SDG 4 (Quality Education): we increase access to accredited university pathways and improve retention by stabilising the barriers that cause “quiet drop-off” after admission.
SDG 5 (Gender Equality): we strengthen voice, confidence, agency and decision-making, so young women can shape their futures beyond social constraints.
SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth): we prepare Scholars for the future of work through the #ShapingHERfuture Skills Academy, internships and employability support, enabling transitions into dignified, salaried employment.
SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): we close the network and opportunity gap for first-generation women by providing access to mentors, exposure, and structured support.

Our impact is both individual and compounding: 100% proof of concept, with proven outcomes to date — alumnae move into employment and financial independence, families stabilise, siblings stay in education, and communities gain visible role models. Through our returnable grant / pay-it-forward model (minimum 33% repayment, with the option to contribute more), impact circulates forward, enabling one Scholar’s success to help open the pathway for the next.
